Tallinn, Estonia
Posted on Jan 9, 2025
The Engineering team builds the software powering Veriff. We're cracking the online identity crisis in a scalable way, deploying excellence to keep Veriff on the cusp of innovation. It's a fast-paced market with many challenges. We need new talent on board to help us fill the gaps - bringing new ways of thinking into the team and, therefore, new possibilities.

At Veriff, protecting honest people online is our mission, and the Fraud Engineering team plays a pivotal role in making this happen. As the Engineering Manager for this critical team, you'll oversee a group responsible for detecting repeat fraud through machine learning models, and providing global risk assessments for fraudulent interactions. Your leadership will drive both technical excellence and strategic collaboration across teams and products.

The Fraud Engineering team consisting of software engineers and data scientists interacts with most of the products in Veriff providing a way to detect repeat fraud and technical tampering. By collecting relevant data from devices and other sources, the Fraud Engineering team is building sophisticated ML models to stop fraudsters. The team interacts with large sets of data in real time and uses a mature MLOps platform to develop its models.

You’ll help us protect honest people online by:

  • Leading and inspiring the team to develop innovative fraud detection systems, maintaining a balance between technical quality and strategic impact.
  • Building global risk assessment systems that synthesize signals from other teams and products.
  • Fostering collaboration with other product teams to uncover opportunities for fraud detection integration.
  • Ensuring the team's outputs are reliable, scalable, and aligned with Veriff’s broader goals.
  • Driving technical excellence by guiding architectural decisions, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of innovation.

You are the right future Veriffian for the job if you have:

  • Expertise in backend development, particularly Python, with experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS), databases (Postgres, Clickhouse), and ML pipelines.
  • Familiarity with tabular machine learning models and building scalable, reliable systems.
  • A strategic mindset with a proven ability to align technical efforts with organizational goals and ROI.
  • Curiosity and initiative to uncover collaboration opportunities across teams.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including mentorship, fostering an inclusive culture, and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills (in English) for cross-team collaboration and stakeholder alignment.
