About the Role

In this visible and exciting role, the Senior Manager, Revenue Recognition will be the team leader for Latin America managing a team of seven, including a Manager and three Analysts in Mexico City, a Sr. Analyst in Brazil, and two Managers in Argentina. The role requires an experienced professional with strong executive presence, the ability to interact with senior leaders, and a passion for developing high-performing teams. The position is based in Mexico City.

The Senior Manager, Revenue Recognition will partner with Sales, Legal, Sales Operations, and Pricing teams, play a trusted advisor role for customer contract negotiations, and perform contract review for revenue recognition compliance. The ideal candidate is able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment across many different functions within the business and the finance organization. A successful applicant will have a strong working understanding of ASC 606 with experience in application of the standard to a SaaS business model in the tech industry. Further, the candidate must excel in managing and understanding a wide range of issues and business models that could be driven by acquisitions, revenue recognition requirements, and strategic shifts in go-to-market strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of 7 across Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina
  • Own revenue recognition strategy and execution for Latin America across all Salesforce products, clouds, services, and acquired entities (including Informatica), alliances, and resellers
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for customer contract negotiations and perform contract review for revenue recognition compliance
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex contract reviews and revenue recognition matters under ASC 606
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders in the region and around the globe (including Finance, Legal, and Deal Desk leadership)
  • Align the Mexico Shared Services Center (SSC) team with the India SSC for 24-hour global business coverage
  • Work with the global Revenue Recognition team and respective business partners to develop and maintain SOX Compliance
  • Engage with external auditors and understand/respond to the changes in the audit approach
  • Establish standard contract structures for both existing & new products and work cross-functionally to maintain a scalable quote-to-cash process
  • Lead training on revenue recognition rules, policies and practices within the Company, and in particular within the Sales organization
  • Keep up with industry trends and build relationships with external technical accounting advisors
  • Maintain documentation for all review and compliance work completed
  • Deliver the highest standard of departmental, cross departmental and cross region customer service
  • Drive continuous improvement in revenue recognition processes and controls

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the Core Competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
  • 7+ years relevant revenue recognition experience
  • Proven experience leading multi-country or global accounting teams
  • Verbal and written communication skills with ability to present ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences as well as high level executives
  • Fluent Spanish and English
  • Project Management skills including planning, task assignment, status tracking and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Primary audit and ASC 606 experience in SaaS/software industry
  • CPA strongly desired
  • Portuguese is strongly preferred given leadership collaboration needs with Brazil
  • A blend of public accounting and industry experience
  • Team player who is able to work with virtual, global, and cross-functional teams while championing diversity of team, thought, and opinion
  • Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced, fast-growing company where adaptability is imperative
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and in writing, willingness to appropriately debate difficult issues; ability to analyze complex issues and communicate solutions clearly
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to build relationships with new and existing executives across functions
  • Ability to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers
  • Strong MS Excel skills highly desirable
  • Salesforce and Zuora RevPro skills highly desirable

This role is hybrid and goes into the office 3 days per week.
