Description
About Salesforce & Slack:
Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Slack is the AI-powered core of this transformation. We take scale seriously: at peak usage, a million messages a minute pass through Slack, and our users spend over a billion minutes a day in the product. We are looking for technical leaders to help us define the "Agentic Era" of work.
About the Team: Search & AI Israel
Be part of our Tel Aviv team (Azrieli Sarona Tower) building the intelligence behind Slackbot. With 13 engineers today and plans to double by year-end, you'll help shape both the product and the team as we scale.
We aren't just experimenting with GenAI; we are shipping it at a massive scale. Our work spans the entire stack, from building high-performance RAG systems to fine-tuning the UI/UX that makes AI feel like a natural teammate. We operate with a "startup" energy within Slack, moving fast across various GenAI technologies, embeddings, and complex evaluation frameworks.
The Technical Landscape:
The Stack: We build primarily in Hacklang (backend) and React/Redux (frontend).
GenAI & Search: Working extensively with LLMs, embeddings, and Solr as our Vector Database to power advanced RAG workflows and Agentic Search.
The Mission: You will lead the development of tools and capabilities that allow Slackbot to act, discover, reason, and assist users across millions of workspaces.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the evolution of Slack into an agentic operating system for the enterprise - creating the platform where organizations build, deploy, and orchestrate their AI agents and workflows.
Architect AI Systems: Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end GenAI features, focusing on RAG architectures and integrating Solr for vector & keyword search at scale.
Full-Stack Leadership: Drive technical excellence across the stack, writing robust code in Hacklang, while ensuring our React/Redux frontends are performant and intuitive.
LLM Strategy & Evals: Own the lifecycle of LLM integration. This includes prompt engineering, managing embeddings, and building the evaluation frameworks necessary to ensure our models are accurate, safe, and helpful.
Technical Mentorship: As an SMTS/LMTS/PMTS, you will set the bar for engineering quality, performing deep code reviews, mentoring senior engineers, and influencing the broader Search & AI roadmap.
Collaborative Innovation: Work at the intersection of product, data science, and infrastructure to bring "all over the place" GenAI tech into a cohesive, polished user experience.
What We’re Looking For
Senior Technical Depth: Substantial experience (typically 7-12+ years) in full-stack or backend-heavy engineering. You have a track record of shipping complex, distributed systems.
GenAI Expertise: You are deeply familiar with the modern AI stack. You understand how to optimize RAG pipelines and have hands-on experience with Vector Databases (like Solr, Pinecone, or Milvus).
Polyglot Mindset: An engineer who enjoys writing in multiple programming languages—such as Hack, Python, and Swift—and is comfortable handling both frontend and backend tasks while transitioning seamlessly between them.
Data & Evaluation Rigor: You don't just "hope" the LLM works; you know how to measure it. Experience with LLM evals and data-driven iteration is critical.
Leadership & Location: You thrive in a collaborative office environment. This role is based in our Tel Aviv hub, and we are looking for leaders who can help foster the local engineering culture.
Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.
