ABOUT THE JOB

As the Cloud Architecture Manager, you will play a crucial role in both leading and contributing to a team of talented cloud architects to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient solutions to support the OneStream Software as a Service platform. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across various engineering, support, consulting and cloud departments to understand requirements and work to research and translate them into effective cloud strategies working alongside OneStream product managers. Additionally, you will oversee the development and execution of cloud architecture plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities:

Cloud Architecture Design and Development

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements translating them into comprehensive cloud architecture solutions.
  • Design and optimize the use of cloud infrastructure and services aligning to OneStream SaaS platform growth while ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and trends, making recommendations for adoption based on industry needs, best practices and aligning with the OneStream product roadmap.
  • Stay updated on the latest cloud-native security trends, proactively surfacing potential risks to the cloud infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with OneStream Platform QA and Platform Engineering teams to help with cloud capacity planning, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Development and other stakeholders to understand Cloud Control Plane and automation roadmap recommending solutions to streamline processes, reduce manual operations and promote self-service capabilities to customers.

Project Management, Delivery and Relationship Management:

  • Oversee the architecture exploration and project plans that include clear staffing, resourcing, risks and effort requirements.
  • Use of agile methodologies and project management frameworks (E.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, establishing clear timelines and milestones.
  • Create team structure and processes so the team can work together to meet the needs of OneStream customers.
  • Participate in project status and team OKR reporting.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to execute cloud projects effectively, ensuring alignment with OneStream product priorities and release deadlines.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Facilitate collaboration internally amongst the development team and across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the executive team and other internal stakeholders to determine strategic software architecture, control plane, and automation priorities.

Human Resource Management

  • Oversee the assembly of architecture team, task delegation, and staff scheduling coordinating work implementation with the cloud development team.
  • Provide guidance and support to cloud architects, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Coordinate with HR for recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of cloud architects.
  • Encourage professional development, and ensure the presence of appropriate training initiatives, within the development team.
  • Participate in the hiring and training processes as necessary.


QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Formal Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Science or Computer Engineering or related field required; 8+ years of enterprise software architecture/development experience with 2+ years of leadership/management experience.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Thorough knowledge of programming languages, tools, technologies, and infrastructure related to software development, and the capacity to master complex software products. (Microsoft C# preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of large-scale distributed applications and understanding of queueing and RESTful services.
  • Proficiency in both SQL and No-SQL databases to architect and optimize data storage in the cloud (Microsoft SQL Azure DB, PostgreSQL, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Fabric, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and services (E.g. Azure, AWS, Google cloud) with relevant certifications preferred. (Azure certified Solutions Architect preferred).
  • Through knowledge of cloud native capabilities available such as Kubernetes, platform monitoring, Virtual networking, and low-code technologies such as Azure Functions (Microsoft Azure certification desired).
  • Preferred to have knowledge of modern web development technologies (React/Angular/Blazor).
  • Proven project management skills in the context of software development.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in the finance industry is a plus.

Personal Attributes

  • Experience directing and supervising professional level Architecture/Engineering staff through large complex projects.
  • Experience in growing a scalable architecture organization and/or organizational transformation.
  • Understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the software engineering and architecture field.
  • Broad exposure to variety of industry frameworks, development trends, tools, and technologies utilized in implementing cloud native solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff.
  • High level of analytical, planning and organizational ability.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, perform work in a team environment, and relay necessary information as appropriate.
  • Experience with OneStream Software not required.
  • Legally authorized to work for any company in the United States without sponsorship.
