We are currently searching for a highly motivated candidate to
join our Accounting Team in San Francisco!
What we expect
This is a hybrid (40% remote and 60% onsite) role in Brisbane, CA.
Odoo is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will manage and execute day-to-day payroll activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all payroll processes. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and ADP to deliver seamless payroll and accounting operations. Responsibilities
- Process payroll for US, including preparing batches, final paychecks, adjustments, special payments, and maintaining accurate employee and payroll records such as pay rates, leave balances, accrued PTO, and employment information
- Calculate and audit sales commissions for the sales team and manage payroll-related accounting tasks, including posting payroll bills, expense reimbursements, and reconciling bank and payment processor statements against financial records
- Review and approve employee expense reimbursements and reports in line with internal guidelines and the Company Purchase & Expense Policy
- Generate standard and ad-hoc payroll and HR reports, providing insights to support decision-making for Finance and People Teams
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and company policies, including auditing payroll tax records, participating in 401k, Workers’ Compensation, and general audits, and staying updated on relevant tax regulations
- Address payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries promptly
- Collaborate with internal teams and ADP to support payroll and accounting operations, including tasks like payment posting and profile reviews, and serve as a backup to the accounting team when needed
- Assist with payroll and accounting reporting during month-end close and provide analysis on trends
- Maintain and update process documentation and internal controls for payroll operations to ensure accuracy and compliance
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of payroll experience, including at least 1 year with ADP TotalSource
- 1+ years of accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team
Nice to Have
- 1+ years of multi-state payroll experience in a high-volume corporate environment (300+ employees)
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite, SAP, or Odoo, particularly in high-volume environments
- Previous experience handling accounts payable or receivable in a high-volume setting
- Familiarity with account reconciliation, month-end closing processes, and process improvement initiatives
- Prior experience in an accounting firm or internal corporate accounting environment

The estimated annual compensation range for this role is $75,000-$85,000. Please note that actual salaries may vary within, above, or below this range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.
