Developer Advocate (Bengaluru, India)
Figma
Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
We’re looking to add our first Developer Advocate to our APAC advocacy team. This role will be at the core of our community of developers who are building on Figma’s platform. You will support growing our developer community in APAC from scratch. Through our Account Management team, you will work closely with developers at high value customers who are building internal tools to accelerate their internal design and development workflows. Throughout these engagements, you’ll establish long-standing relationships that can help us scale our efforts in the community, and collect ongoing feedback for the product team that can influence our product roadmap.
This is a full time role that will be based in our Bengaluru hub.
What you’ll do at Figma:
- Grow our footprint in the APAC developer community
- Enable Figma developers at scale. Write standard process guides, create and share example code and developer resources, improve API documentation, and answer technical API questions from the community
- Motivate and empower the community. Build and maintain relationships with users, identify opportunities for collaboration, and manage networks of champions who join beta programs, contribute content, and lead local communities like the Friends of Figma Plugins interest group
- Support our sales and business development initiatives. Partner with developers who build on the Figma platform to educate and unblock them—this includes partners who create integrations with Figma and high-value customers who build internal tools to accelerate their design and development workflows
- Speak at community meetups, conferences, and livestreams. Host developer-focused sessions during betas and platform launches
- Advocate for users with the product team. Stay close to community needs, share feedback, and work with product to shape the roadmap. Act as a trusted advisor during launches to prepare for community response. Test new features and provide direct input
- Comfort-level with up to 25% of travel
- Some projects you could work on: Content to help share user stories and standard processes with the greater developer community. Design and build a new Figma livestream around Code Connect and MCP. Work closely with a customer to support their onboarding to Figma Dev Mode
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Proven ability working on production systems writing Javascript/Typescript, in addition to modern component-based frameworks (ex: React)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable speaking publicly to large groups of developers and team members
- An understanding of designer workflows and the types of tools useful in bridging the gap between designers and developers
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
- Experience building developer focused communities and using Figma’s APIs (Plugin or REST)
- An ambitious mindset and joy for iterating on projects from early experimental ideas through to completion
- Strong listening and facilitation skills, a passion for storytelling with attention to detail, quality and accuracy
