Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on

  • Be the driving force for creating a sustainable culture of delivery within a complex, platform-focused engineering group.

  • Influence, guide and steer a broad cross-functional set of stakeholders across the delivery of platform programs and reliability initiatives.

  • Monitor and track delivery health across your group, teams and cross-functional programs, maintaining clear dashboards and delivery signals for leadership.

  • Partner with our Operations team and lead on maturing our processes, communications and leadership engagement.

  • Develop and codify Ways of Working with a clear value proposition for the teams you support, and facilitate them consistently over time.

  • Drive incident management programs and reliability engineering coordination across Media Platform.

  • Contribute to observability and SLO framework adoption, ensuring teams have the right signals to manage platform health.

  • Coordinate technical debt consolidation programs, helping teams prioritise and sequence platform improvement work.

  • Assess and manage program risks, decisions and escalation paths with clear mitigation plans.

  • Manage dependencies across Super Groups and Groups, with a deep understanding of the Product Platform dependency landscape.

  • Develop consistent models for how internal teams engage with Media Platform, establishing clear and scalable front-door processes.

  • Apply Jira as a core delivery superpower, building scalable structures that give the group accurate, real-time visibility over what's in flight.

  • Build partnerships with cross-functional teams to influence decisions, drive alignment and prioritisation.

  • Partner with the TPM specialty to help codify and build the TPM craft and practice.

You're probably a match if

  • You've got a minimum of 5+ years TPM experience at a SaaS company, with hands-on experience driving large programs of work in a platform or infrastructure engineering context.

  • You bring genuine technical depth. You're comfortable engaging with backend architecture, platform dependencies and engineering trade-offs, not just managing the process around them.

  • You're familiar with reliability engineering concepts: SLOs, incident management frameworks, observability tooling and how platform teams think about operational health.

  • You've coordinated or driven technical debt programs across complex engineering groups.

  • Deep understanding of agile product development processes and the SDLC.

  • Experience leading and influencing Engineering Leads and Product Managers in a platform setting, where the primary customers are internal teams.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • A natural communicator who leads through influence, not authority, and loves navigating complexity and tackling ambiguous problems.

  • You treat Jira as a delivery superpower, not admin overhead. You know how to build structures that give teams actual visibility, not just noise.

  • Leadership capability to ensure clarity, alignment and accountability across a technically complex group.

  • Ability to think strategically but stay hands-on. This role goes deep as well as wide.

About the Media Platform Group

This group is part of the backbone of Canva, building and operating some of the core platform services that make designing possible at scale, for every user, on every device, everywhere in the world.

The work Media Platform does spans from scaling infrastructure to support billions of user-uploaded assets and tens of millions of daily uploads, through to advancing multi-region data residency capabilities, driving down cloud hosting costs, and building the next generation of media processing pipelines to power AI-driven features. Platform reliability isn't a nice-to-have here; it's the job.
