Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, hello, hiya, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Design, lead and deliver end-to-end internal communications programs that inform, engage and inspire a global team of 5,000+ Canvanauts.
  • Own the strategy and execution of major internal events and employee experiences, partnering closely with Events and Operations teams and managing external vendors to deliver seamless, high-impact experiences across the globe.
  • Lead complex, global change management initiatives, working cross-functionally to ensure clarity, consistency and confidence through periods of change.
  • Act as a central connector across Global Communications, Events, Product, Engineering, Design, People and Operations to align messaging, timelines and delivery across multiple workstreams.
  • Manage company-wide communication channels and cadences including all-hands, leadership forums, and major internal milestones, with a strong focus on engagement, clarity and alignment.
  • Provide trusted counsel to senior leaders and managers, helping them communicate clearly with their teams and the broader company during both business-as-usual and high-stakes moments.
  • Translate complex ideas, strategy and decisions into compelling narratives, campaigns and experiences, combining strong written, visual and experiential storytelling.
  • Drive operational excellence across internal communications programs, including planning, workback schedules, stakeholder management and project delivery.
  • Support and contribute to broader communications initiatives as required, bringing a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset to every project.

You're probably a match if

  • 6+ years of experience in internal communications, chief of staff, employee experience or related roles within fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale internal events, employee experiences or complex, cross-functional programs from strategy through execution.
  • An exceptional written, visual and verbal communicator, with strong storytelling instincts and familiarity with Canva.
  • Highly skilled at translating complex strategy, change and ambiguity into clear, compelling narratives and experiences.
  • Comfortable planning, prioritising and delivering multiple workstreams simultaneously, often across regions and time zones.
  • Known for tenacity, ownership and a bias for execution, with the ability to design programs that scale.

About the team & role

As an Internal Communications Manager at Canva, you’ll join a highly impactful team responsible for keeping our global team of 5,000+ employees (affectionately known as Canvanauts) connected, inspired and aligned.

You’ll help shape and deliver the strategies, programs and experiences that ensure the right information reaches the right audiences, through the right channels, at the right time. This includes owning major internal moments, from all-hands and leadership forums to large-scale internal events, that bring our strategy, mission and values to life across the globe.

Working closely with partners across Global Communications, Events, People, Operations, Product, Design and Engineering, you’ll help scale Canva’s internal communications and employee experiences as we continue to grow. Day to day, you’ll play a critical role in equipping our team with the clarity, context and inspiration they need to do the best work of their lives.

No two days are the same at Canva. We’re looking for an experienced operator with exceptional written, visual and verbal communication skills, strong project and stakeholder management capabilities, and a passion for creating high-impact moments. You’ll be comfortable leading complex, cross-functional projects end to end, from planning and storytelling through to execution and delivery, often under tight timelines and with a high degree of ambiguity.

The successful candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy partnering with a wide range of stakeholders, and be energized by turning big ideas into seamless, meaningful experiences at scale.

What's in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a stack of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.

Here's a taste of what's on offer:

  • Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too
  • Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers
  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
  • Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and supports you personally
