Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Become a go-to expert in Canva’s Infrastructure for System Integrations, helping shape the direction and technical foundation of our 2P integrations.

  • Collaborate with internal developer partners, across Systems Integrations, IT, and more, to co-design solutions that balance user needs with the capabilities of our integration platform.

  • Partner closely with product teams across the Ecosystem supergroup to understand the product landscape and influence roadmaps with technical insight.

  • Define robust system and interface requirements for Second-Party (2P) integrations, translating business and operational goals into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.

  • Craft clear and accessible technical documentation, including reference architectures, best practices, white papers, and solution briefs.

  • Build and maintain incident response processes and documentation for apps built through our third-party ecosystem.

You're probably a match if

  • You are firmly grounded in computer science and engineering fundamentals and have experience developing web applications.

  • You have hands-on experience managing cloud platform configurations, preferably in AWS (with Azure or GCP as a bonus).

  • You have experience working with infrastructure for system integration.

  • You bring 3+ years of experience in system engineering, system architecture, or an equivalent technical role.

  • You excel at technical troubleshooting in an Enterprise SaaS environment.

  • You demonstrate a strong customer-focused attitude and professional demeanor.

  • You communicate effectively and confidently, especially in written form.

  • You have hands-on experience using AI in your work to drive greater impact

About the team

The Ecosystem group contributes to Canva’s growth towards 1 billion users by creating an abundant app ecosystem that tailors to the diverse needs of our users across all demographics. As Canva continues to play a larger role in organisations with larger teams, it is essential that we continue growing an ecosystem that supports both apps and integrations with 3rd party tools/apps/services. Ecosystem has launched the Canva Apps SDK and is continuing to evolve Ecosystem product offering by recently launching the public REST API for Canva to serve third-party developers (Connect API) and support integrations with enterprises and SaaS software!

The Ecosystem strategy involves three priorities:

  • Build and scale the Canva API to enable deep integrations into (and outside of) Canva’s editor product

  • Create a truly delightful experience for our developers and their customers.

  • Building high-quality integrations with strategic partners to benefit Canva’s users.

We have an active and growing community of developers and app partners in our Ecosystem. We are expanding the Solutions Engineering team to help us grow and scale how we foster and support our System Integrators.

As a System Engineer, you will support a growing network of System Integrators, supporting their work with Canva's infrastructure. The Solution Engineer team is part of the Partnerships and Developer Success team within the Canva Ecosystem Group and work closely with Engineering, Product, Partnerships, Account Executives and Customer Success, to name a few. You will help us establish Canva as the World's most extensible platform as we grow and scale.

What's in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a range of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.

Here's a taste of what's on offer:

  • Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too

  • Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers

  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more

  • Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and supports you personally
