- You will drive the planning and refinement of cycle goals, ensuring there is alignment between the company, group, and teams.

You're probably a match if you have:
- Previous experience in technical people leadership or mentorship of high performing engineers
- Experience in full-stack software development with a strong emphasis on front-end technologies, including Java and Typescript

The Video Export team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evolving the systems that power Canva’s video experiences.
Specifically, this team owns the backend systems as well as components of the web stack that enable the export to downloadable videos. Maintaining video quality & fidelity, while ensuring optimal performance & cost, through the use of cutting-edge device capabilities is at the heart of this team. This team will play a pivotal role in our video strategy in the years to come to enhance remote and local export capabilities, taking advantage of the technology and hardware advancements to optimise performance, reliability and cost.
About the role
As the Engineering Manager for the Video Export team, you will lead a small team of 3 engineers, focusing on delivering critical goals while maintaining a hands-on approach. You’ll be instrumental in solving technical challenges across the stack, ensuring robust systems, and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment, working closely with our Staff Engineer and directly coaching 2 engineers.
This role requires strong systems engineering expertise, a solid backend development background, and the ability to dive into technical details - but also a solid experience of Typecript and Javascript. Whether it’s debugging rasterisation issues caused by a Chromium update, resolving spot instances scaling problems, or fixing frontend synchronization issues in the export stack, you’ll play an active role in ensuring the team’s success.
