About the Role
You will join the Accounting team and collaborate closely with the People Team to establish a robust payroll program that supports our global operations in a fast-growing environment. Your primary focus will be on accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for the APAC region including India, Singapore, and Australia, along with accounting support. You will also provide expert advice on payroll matters related to Compensation, Benefits, Taxes, company expansions, and M&A activities in the region. This is a critical role for our international growth, and you will be instrumental in building and scaling a world-class payroll function.
What you will do

Payroll Responsibilities:
- Work with the Sr. Global Payroll Manager to deliver accurate and timely processing of the Company's payroll in accordance with country-specific regulations and legislative compliance requirements in APAC, including India, Singapore, and Australia.
- Ensure full compliance with country-specific statutory regulations, including PF, PT, & TDS (India); CPF & IRAS (Singapore); and Superannuation & STP (Australia).
- Administer employee benefit schemes, including NPS contributions in India, and accurately process payments for gratuity and leave encashment across the region.
- Conduct year-end payroll reconciliations and manage the issuance of annual tax statements, including Form 16 (India), IR8A (Singapore), and Australian payment summaries.
- Process various salary components such as arrears, variable pay, and performance incentives in compliance with local labor regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee payroll-related inquiries, providing guidance on salary structure, tax calculations, and benefit plans.
- Support all statutory and internal audits by preparing and providing accurate payroll data, documentation, and reports for all APAC countries.
- Partner closely with HR to administer payments for all types of leave (holiday, maternity, paternity, sickness) and manage relationships with all payroll-related vendors.
- Maintain meticulous payroll records and prepare standard and ad-hoc reports as required by Accounting, Finance, HR, and for statutory audits, ensuring data integrity.
- Support global payroll system implementations and stay current with regulatory changes in the APAC region, communicating key updates to internal teams.
- Perform other functions and duties as required.
Accounting Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of payroll-related accruals and reconciliations for month-end and year-end closing.
- Support the finance team with payroll-related reporting and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Manage payroll and tax filings, and coordinate with local advisory firms for compliance in India, Singapore, and Australia.
- Handle payroll and NPS funding.
Others:
- This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, India, reporting to a manager in the United States. The position allows for remote work most days, with an expectation to work from our Bangalore office 1-2 times a week for in-person collaboration and meetings. Working hours must partially overlap with the US time zone.
Must Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience in the APAC region, with specific expertise in India, Singapore, and Australia.
- In-depth knowledge of statutory and tax compliance for India, Singapore, and Australia.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle confidential data.
- Proficiency with global payroll software programs (experience with Workday and Safeguard is a strong plus).
- Systems-savvy and proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspaces.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners at all levels.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a publicly traded company.
- Payroll Processing Experience in other APAC regions, including Japan.
- Experience with payroll system implementations and migrations.
